November 2-4, 2011: HiPEAC Autumn computing systems week in Barcelona

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center, HiPEAC and Microsoft Research will organize the Barcelona Multicore Workshop (BMW) / HiPEAC Computing Systems Week 2011, which will be held in Barcelona on 2nd-4th November.

 

This upcoming CSW will start with the Barcelona Multicore Workshop (BMW), which will also include the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the BSC Microsoft Research Center. This day-and-a-half workshop will consist of keynotes given by top European and American researchers from academy and industry. Confirmed invited speakers include András Vajda (Ericsson), Jean-Pierre Panziera (BULL), Krisztian Flautner (ARM), Yale Patt (U. of Texas at Austin), Gurindar Sohi (U. of Wisconsin-Madison), Christos Kozirakis (Stanford), David Kirk (NVIDIA), Krste Asanovic (UC. Berkeley), Jim Larus (Microsoft), Burton Smith (Microsoft), Don Grice (IBM), Walid Najjar (UC. Riverside) and Andrew Herbert (Edsac Replica Project & University College London). Panel and different presentations (Direction on Future Europe Research Directions: Exascale and Hipeac Roadmaps, FP8 plans) will introduce what’s coming in our fields and present the next EU calls. The local organizers, Prof. Mateo Valero, Director at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and Fabrizio Gagliardi, EMEA Director at Microsoft Research, look forward to seing you in Barcelona.

 

Thursday afternoon and Friday will be devoted to the HiPEAC General Assembly wrapping up HiPEAC2 and presenting the future HiPEAC and associated roadmap. We will also hold thematic meetings spanning across current clusters and task forces that will complete the Computing Systems Week. As a pre-program, we can announce very insteresting sessions on “Languages and Tools for Heterogeneous and GPU-based Multicores”, “Reconfigurable Computing”, “I/O, network, and storage virtualization”, “Design and Simulation”, etc. You are all welcome to join these sessions.
